Jared Leto is featured on the December issue cover of Empire Magazine as The Joker in Suicide Squad, where they also conducted an interview with the man behind the newest version of The Joker, for the special Suicide Squad issue of the magazine. During the interview he describes what he went through for the role but also gives a hint that Joker could be an immortal.

“There was definitely a period of…detachment,” Leto said. “I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t image doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the same time it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick-hole.”

When asked if he was still “cooling-down” from his method acting trip into the Joker’s psyche, Leto said “I think I’ll be cooling down for the rest of my life.

I always get the sense that the Joker may be much older than people think,” Leto explained. It’s something different. If you don’t break rules, you’re not going to strike new ground.”

Suicide_Squad_EmpireFor those who don’t know in the “Endgame” story arc by Scott Snyder it was revealed that The Joker was an immortal, similar to Ra’s Al Ghul with the ability to regenerate himself.
