Joe Manganiello was cast a year ago, when Ben Affleck was still attached to direct The Batman, shared a short clip of Deathstroke on the set of Justice League. Since then things have changed considerably with The Batman, as Affleck stepped down as director and the script he wrote with Geoff Johns and Chris Terrio is no longer being used now that Matt Reeves has taken over creative control of the film as director.

The status of whether  Manganiello would still be in The Batman has left many fans wondering afterReeves confirmed the script for the film was being completely rewritten.

Recently Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim spoke with Collider on how he was able to bring Deathstroke back to Season 6 of Arrow, suggesting that things have changed for the film side of things for the character.

Guggenheim never says that he won’t be in any films, just that at this time the plans had changed for the character in films.

“It was a function. You know, DC control these characters. We went through a period where DC was like, ‘We’ve got plans for Deathstroke that don’t include Arrow.’ That changed at the end of this year.”
