Black Lightning Gets A Pilot Order For The CW

As previously reported, Black Lightning has been in development over at FOX for some time but did not go to pilot,  due to that, the word was that the television series would be moved to The CW. Now the official has been announced that The CW has ordered a pilot for Black Lightning.

This will be another Greg Berlanti comic book series to be passed on by FOX as Riverdale (based on the Archie Comics) was also going to be on the network.

Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil are writing the Pilot, with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter serving as fellow Executive Producers.

The CW Network President Mark Pedowitz said earlier this year that he was not looking to bring anymore DC based shows onto the network. Of course Berlanti’s DC shows, as well as Vertigo’s iZombie are network headers, so it’s a smart move.

This move is also the first comic book series on broadcast television to have an African American lead.
