David S. Goyer’s Krypton Take Place Within the DC Extended Universe?

It’s been reported since late last year that David S. Goyer was working on early development of a Superman prequel called “Krypton” for SyFy.

We also known that Warner Bros. and DC Comics have stated that they weren’t connecting their television shows with their films. This idea I think is great as it allows both TV and Film to have free rein, well now it seems like Krypton may actually be connected with Man of Steel.

WHEN AND HOW IT CONNECTS TO THE FILM

“It takes place 200 years before Man of Steel,” Goyer said at the junket. “We’re treating Krypton like it’s a historical piece,” which is something it shares with the TV show he was there to directly promote. “We look to previous cultures on Earth to model what that would be like.”

WHY HE WAS ATTRACTED TO THE PROJECT

“We scratched the surface in the film and, for me, that was the allure,” he said. “I was always fascinated, as a kid, with the books about Krypton and they’ve only shaded in a tiny bit, so we’ll learn about the politics of the world. We’ll learn about the culture, the art, all the different guilds.”

Many who have seen Man of Steel tend to praise the beginning portion of the film as a great look into an alien world, with many wishing there were more. Well it looks like we will get that. This also tells us that we may see what starts the Civil War that eventually caused the planet to explode.
