With DC Universe Rebirth #1 on sale today, co-writer of the special 80 page issue has made quite the statement. During an interview with ComicBook.com, Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics Geoff Johns, assured readers that they will love the one shot and even gave the readers a money back guarantee.
“It’s $2.99 for 80 pages. It’s not a lot,” Johns told Comicbook.com in an interview in New York. “If anyone wants to check out comics, wants to check out DC Universe Rebirth #1 and doesn’t like it, they can mail [the comicbook] to Warner Bros., to me, and I will send them a check, I literally will, for both postage and for the book. I will buy all these books back because I believe in this issue a lot. I think it’ll do very well. I hope it does well. But I seriously will, I’ll buy back this book.”
That is a huge statement, but one that certainly provides us with a lot of confidence in the new brand. Although, the offer is limited to just this issue, it’s still a confident one. Although, Geoff Johns is also involved with the Green Lanterns: Rebirth #1 one shot, he is taking a step back from writing comics to focus on The Batman, which he is co-writing with Ben Affleck and overseeing the DC Extended Universe. Johns is also involved with the overall DC TV Worlds as well, so he has quite the load.
