NBC canceled Constantine in 2015 after only one season despite a big campaign from fans to keep it on the air. Than in the season 4 episode “Haunted” of Arrow, Ryan reprised his role connecting the universes together. Recently on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Ryan appeared again as the character of Constantine, while making more references to his solo series and his returning for more episodes this season.
Ryan reprised his role as Constantine as well in the DC Universe Animated Original movie Justice League Dark, which as far as anyone knows, is separate from anything on the The CW.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s renewal is still up in the air, but The CW President Mark Pedowitz said he’s optimistic that the DC shows would get renewals.
