It’s ironic now that Zack Snyder is taking more of a Producer role in the DC Films Universe that suddenly more respected people are sharing their thoughts on how Snyder’s vision of the DC characters, more specifically Superman well.

First prolific Superman writer Dan Jurgens praised how Snyder handled the way Superman came to kill Zod in Man of Steel versus the way John Byrne did it in the 80’s. Than creative minds like Jay Oliva and Larry Fong has voiced their approval.

Steven S. DeKnight became the newest person to voice to the praises that Zack Snyder gave us a great look at Superman in a recent interview he did with Screen Rant.

Steven S. DeKnight served as Producer, Writer and Director on Smallville from 2004-2007, developing some of the best episodes on the series.

TALKS ABOUT WRITING ON SMALLVILLE

Superman is one of the hardest characters to write for. One of the brilliant things about Smallville is it’s all about Clark. He wasn’t Superman yet.

ON HOW ZACK SNYDER HANDLED THE TRICKIER PARTS OF WRITING FOR SUPERMAN

Superman’s very different from Batman. Batman is this dark, psychologically messed up guy, Superman’s the man we all aspire to be. He’s inspirational and to try to find the human side of that, and not to mention, he’s so powerful it’s harder to relate to him so it’s very, very difficult.
I actually really like what Zack Snyder has done with that character. It’s a super hard, very tricky character to do and like I said, if we were doing on Smallville, if he were Superboy on Smallville, I don’t think it would have worked.

ON THE QUESTION OF HOW TO APPROACH SUPERMAN LIKE SNYDER DID AND CRITICISM

” There’s no easy way to win over either side – using DeKnight’s words, how do you take an “inspirational” hero who is “the man we all aspire to be,” and tell an origin story in which he can’t be those things from the start? Stretch it across three films, and you risk winding up where Snyder is now.
