Since Wonder Woman came out and is being seen as a turnaround  in terms of tone and direction, many fans who have liked the earlier films have grown concerned that we will get lighter toned films that will pander to the audiences perception of how comic book films should be and not how the content sometimes calls for it.

Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Toby Emmerich spoke with Variety on Wonder Woman’s success and announced that he loves the violent and adult comic books that are out there and stating that Warner Bros. is considering R-rated films for the DC Extended Universe.

“I would be surprised if we didn’t at some point make an R-rated DC movie,” says Emmerich

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was originally R-rated before they cut the film down, so we have already seen what could be in the future for the DC Extended Universe when it comes to R-rating.
