Two New DC Animated Films Coming 2016

Shares

As previously posted about the great news of The Killing Joke finally getting an adaptation, Bruce Timm also announced two more releases. Just like The Killing Joke, no voice casting or set release date has been set, but here are the titles:

  • Batman: Bad Blood featuring Batwoman
  • Justice League Vs Teen Titans

Not sure yet what the films will be based on or if they are both original stories. This wouldn’t be the first time we have had Batwoman in an animated film, so if you want just a sample of the character check out Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.

My name is Eric and I am loving this current comic book boom, I was around for the first one with Superman: The Movie, Supergirl(being the first female and crossover film) and Batman and have been enjoying the resurgence since Blade. Can't express how much I cannot wait for WB & DC to take back the film universe but until than I love the TV shows we have gotten. I only started reading comics about 10 years ago but am connected more to DC over Marvel or any other major company. If you wanna chat feel free to contact me

“This wouldn’t be the first time we have had Batwoman in an animated
film, so if you want just a sample of the character check out Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.”

Um, no, the Batwoman in that movie has pretty much nothing to do with the comic Batwoman. Only the same name.

    • William Avitt

Um, Mystery of the Batwoman was made before the current Batwoman was ever created, so…

      • Timothy Laskey

the current Batwoman is the reboot of the original character from the 1950’s. The animated series version only used the name, since it wasn’t being used at the time; that character (or three characters in reality) are not from the comics. Batwoman and Batgirl first appeared long before the 90’s animated stuff

        • William Avitt

Yeah, nothing you said invalidated my original point that the animated Batwoman from Mystery predates the version currently in the comics. Also, your rant also isn’t entirely correct, either. For example, one of the characters who is Batwoman is named Lathy Duquesne, which writer Alan Burnett had admitted was a deliberate attempt to pay homage to the original Batwoman’s identity of Kathy Kane. Also, her costume bears a strong resemblance to the costume worn by Cassandra Cain’s Batgirl.

          • Michael Weiss

            tims right.

          • William Avitt

I never said his facts weren’t right, only that his argument had absolutely nothing to do with the actual conversation being had. Basically he said a bunch of irrelevant stuff that had no significance to the topic at hand.

I have to watch that, i dont know much about BatWomen , ill wiki it.

  • wow

    can’t wait for this man:)

      it pretty much sucked tho

      • KnyghtRyder

Okay maybe the story line was a little weak, but saying it sucked is really strong and not true. It was rather entertaining, and they could have made things a little more convincing. I thought how they took over everyone was lame but it didn’t suck! Just not at the level of Flash-point Paradox, Gods and Men, War and Throne of Atlantis. Those are hard acts to follow, it was liked they rushed it into production. I was just glad they opened up room for the Teen Titans. What they really need to do is Make a movie about the Young justice League or the Legion of Superheroes.

        • Zevi Schachter

To say that it sucked may have gone a bit to the extreme; however, it was personally not a favorite of mine as I got bored rather quickly. Equally, Gods and Men, while it had a okay-ish story line, was rather confusing for me as i was not expecting anything like that, i.e. it said “Justice League”, so I was expecting The Justice League. And I cannot say that I was happily surprised as when I finally understood that it was a different reality, I didn’t exactly find the point of it all, and found it rather boring as well as the animation was lackluster as compared to other DC animated movies.

          • KnyghtRyder

Yes you do have several good points I do admit, I don’t think it was much as a different reality than a “what If?” What if Superman was raised by illegal immigrants how would he turn out? Because remember in Flash Point Paradox the government found him instead of the Kent’s and in that timeline he was also different. The original Wonder Women was not the daughter of the “All Father” she was a Amazon and she also was different, and Batman a vampire?? okay that’s where they stepped across the line! But I thought it was a little refreshing to see “what if?” I do agree that the animation was not as good as some of the others but it was entertaining… at least to me. And to correct myself earlier I guess you can say it was also a different reality or timeline.

So will Bat women be the daughter of Bruce wayne?

Im really wanting another Justice League continuing story , now that the team has Aqua Man, they should work on Mars Manhunter, and the main Villain of Vandall Savage.

    • JustAnotherFan

He’s called Martian Manhunter who is from Mars not Mars Manhunter. It’s okay I made that mistake as well 🙂 I too would wish if they could include him in the upcoming justice league animated movie 🙂

    • KnyghtRyder

I agree, but before they do the Man-hunter they need to revisit Wonder Women. The last one (which was awesome) was in 2009 I believe, and with the caliber of animations they are making now they definitely need to update her movie. She’s part of the “Big Four” originals and yet they have several of Batman and Superman (justifiably so) why not give the others some love to? I love the Flash-Point movie so give us another one and a new Wonder Women and Aqua Man centering on them, not the Justice League.

      • Zevi Schachter

I don’t think I ever watched the Wonder Woman movie, is it worth it to visit it and watch it? Or was it rubbish?

        • Zevi Schachter

Plus didn’t they have Martian Manhunter star in one of the newest Justice League Movie? Where the JLA was created? I thought that was a Great movie!

  • EZFrag

I gotta say that I really enjoyed the Young Justice Series. Why do they kill these shows so fast? Only a couple of seasons.

    • JustAnotherFan

There’s talk going around that it may come back but be exclusive to Netflix but that’s just a rumour but I do hope so cause the show had so much potential and could easily continue on with more seasons and add in new characters from the teen titans or dc characters.

      • KnyghtRyder

        I Agree!

        • Zevi Schachter

          THEY WERE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • KnyghtRyder

I can’t remember the creator’s name, but there was some discussion about that and he said that it’s up to Netflix to make a season three. I believe it was specifically made for Netflix and his comment was the more we watch it the more attention it will receive from the studio? (Yeah Right) So basically if everyone watches it a lot it will go up on the priority list for a season three. I wrote to his comment, “You have enough money to make your own, I know people will watch it even if they pay for it then make your money back?” Never received a comment back though; not that I was expecting one.

  • alsott

Definitely looking forward to JL v Teen Titans. As for Batman Bad Blood, I can do without another Batman film tbh, even if Batwoman is going to be in it. Wake me up when they do a solo film about someone else not Bat-family related.

    • Zevi Schachter

Why? what’s the beef with Bats?

      • KnyghtRyder

I’m with you on that one Zevi!
